I knew the Roadmaster had a full size spare, but I was shocked to find that it is an actual matching alloy wheel. Behold, an unused nearly 22 year old tire.
So I pulled the spare out today to deal with this.
There, I fixed it. OK, not really. I will actually get this fixed, but at least I don’t have to worry about the spare dropping out on the road in the meantime.

I was surprised the first time I lifted the trunk floor in the M3 and saw a full-size spare with a matching wheel too. Not something I expected in a car so small and performanced focused. Luckily once I picked the spare up I didn't see the road like you did.

That is surprising!
These things happen with a cheap old car that spent every day outside in the rust belt. It shouldn’t be too expensive to fix for real though.

While I’m sure the wheel is fine, I would advise against ever using that tire haha

I’m not sure how they slid that one past the bean counters. You can tell the interior was designed when GM was at peak bean counter.

That’s really cool, and it’s even been balanced!
On a related note, my Chevelle has the original spare wheel and tire in the trunk... from 1971...

I did actually notice that it had been balanced.

At least you’ve got something solid!
I don’t know how to weld, so I’ll be taking this to my favorite local El-Cheapo body shop. They replaced my truck’s right rear quarter panel and front lower bumper for a measly $1200, so this can’t cost more than a couple hundred there.

a friend is actually working on getting B-body floorpans made as, despite the fact that the floorpan barely changed back to the 70’s, no one makes replacement metal.

Maybe. I was looking up the RPO codes yesterday, and I saw one for full size spare, but didn’t notice one specifically to make it an alloy. I could’ve missed it though, because I was really just looking to see if mine has the towing package. It has the towing package!!!!!!!! This car is rated to tow 7000 pounds! My truck is only rated for 5700!

Possibly. It is a very well optioned car. As far as I can tell it has every option available, except a CD player.

He’s actually talking to a company about making them, and I’m disappointed in him a little that he’s not going to be doing anything with the sales. He’s literally doing this “for the good of the community” but his ‘92 is pretty rotten underneath. I told him to ask the community to finance the making of the test ones for his own car.
a company called Wolf Steel in Canada makes some gorgeous replacement panels. I have some for my Celica. He’s talking to them.
